On many occasions, we have heard talk about serums, but what in truth is a serum? when must it be used and for what?
A serum is a concentrate with more potent active ingredients that those in a hydrating cream. Furthermore, the texture of this type of cosmetics tends to be much smoother suave and thus skin penetration is much quicker than with conventional creams. As well as this, its effects act on the deepest layers of the skin.
A serum must be applied after a deep cleanse for the skin, and is normally used on the face, neck and neckline. A serum must never be used after a hydrating cream. Furthermore, as this product is somewhat concentrated and easily absorbed, only small amounts must be applied. Obviously, each serum is different, and as such it is of the utmost importance to follow the instructions appearing on the bottle, though, in most cases, 2-3 drops should be sufficient.
The serum may be used twice a day (once in the morning and once at night), though if you decide to use it just once a day, it is better at night, as this is when cells regenerate.
